Panasonic to present 132 lm/W white OLED device at SID 2014

Konica Minolta, UDC, First-O-Lite and OLEDWorks are also deliverying updates on technical progress

SID 2014 has just released its Symposium programme and highlights five papers on technical progress of OLED lighting they consider to be important. According to the Symposium programme, Panasonic Corp is to present details on their developmentof an OLED device that emits white light with a brightness of 1,000cd/m2 and luminous efficiency of 132 lm/W.

Paper 47.1Color Tunable Phosphorescent White-OLED Lighting Panel

Abstract:The concept of tunable white lighting panels is gaining great interest in the lighting design and applications. One approach to fabricating tunable white lighting panel is to produce RGB monochrome stripes and control each stripe with separate current drivers. The most recent performance achieved was 63 lm/W at 1000 cd/m2.
  
Paper 47.2Efficient Tandem Hybrid White OLEDs for Solid-State Lighting Applications

Abstract:With tandem hybrid device architecture and an external light-extraction structure, OLED panels with an efficacy of 80 lm/W at 1000 cd/m2 and good color have been produced. With a similar device architecture but with internal light extraction, 2 cm x 2 cm devices with an efficacy of over 110 lm/W and good color have been demonstrated.
  
Paper 47.3Performance Improvement of Blue Phosphorescent OLEDs by Designing an Intermolecular and Interlayer Combination

Paper 47.4 Realization of Outstandingly High-Efficacy White OLED by Controlling Evanescent Mode and Wide Angular Incident Light

Abstract:Optimization of angular light distribution in the organic layer and light extraction structure with a high-refractive-index substrate were investigated. Due to the advanced optical design for decreasing the waveguide and evanescent modes, a white OLED device with an outstandingly high efficacy of 132 lm/W at 1000 cd/m2 has been realized.
  
52.2Development and Manufacture of OLED Lighting Panels for Health-Care Applications

OLED lighting is different from displays that are affordability enabled by using an unique approach in both product design and manufacturing processes.
