Merck and Visionox sign memorandum of understanding in OLED cooperation

Merck and Visionox sign a mutually beneficial cooperation to accelerate innovations in the development of the Chinese OLED industry

Merck and Visionox Technology have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the basis of this MOU, the two companies will work together to accelerate the development and applications of OLED materials, aiming to provide high-performance innovative OLED display solutions to the display industry in China.

China recently launched "Made-in-China 2025" which has chosen 10 advantageous and strategic industries with the aim to become a global leader by 2025.

Among the captioned ten industries, the new-generation IT industry is included, of which OLED will play an important role. Renowned for flexibility, lightweight and thinness, bright colour and fast response time, the innovation and promotion of OLED has accelerated in recent years. Chinese companies are gearing up to catch up with international peers.

According to the announcement:

  • Visionox has expertise in several key OLED technologies, especially in its world-class flexible OLED display
  • Visionox has acquired over 4,400 important patents regarding OLED technologies and several big awards
  • Merck offers a complete portfolio of premium livilux materials for OLED displays and lighting devices
  • These include materials for vapour processes on glass or flexible substrates, as well as OLED inks for printing
  • With more than ten years of experience and continuous investment in developing and manufacturing OLED materials have led to a strong portfolio of highly pure, reliable and efficient materials completely tailored to customer requirements
  • Merck has one of the largest R&D teams in the industry
  • Merck holds over a thousand global patents and work closely with market leaders to develop innovative designs with improved efficiencies and lifetimes for future OLED applications
